Boundary Walk 03

16th September 2020. Along Bottom’s Reservoir, following part of the Longdendale Trail.

Today we had the opportunity to conduct a socially distanced interview with Matt Ross (Learning & Discovery Ranger, Peak District Northern Area) whilst walking the parks boundary to the south, along Bottoms Reservoir and following part of the Longdendale Trail. This was a comparatively short walk to previous outings due to wanting to focus on recording Matt talking about how the boundary interweaves in his work and ideas about how people view the park, especially during lockdown. 

The majority of the interview was conducted in a disused quarry, where the boundary cuts through, and heads further south and then south east around Glossop. It was a particularly windy day for recording and the quarry space provided us with the necessary shelter. It was clear that the space we found ourselves in was used for a multiple of activities, some social, other not. Looking at the Ordnance Survey of the place we interviewed Matt, I noted that the boundary mark cut the quarry in half. We agreed to come back on another day to document further to see if we could visualise this mark.
